Born in Haiti, Marie-Denise Douyon studied Visual Arts at the Fashion Institute of New York before returning to her country of origin, Haiti, for a few years. Since she immigrated to Montreal in 1991, her artwork reflects an identity rooted both in her country of origin and in her adopted country.
Douyon's art has been shown in Canada, the United States and Europe. In the past few years she has exhibited at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, at the IDB Cultural center of the Inter American Development Bank in Washington DC and at the Black National Fine Art Show of New York.
