Dr. LeGrace Benson
Director, Arts of Haiti Research Project

Dr. LeGrace Benson photoLeGrace Benson holds a PhD from Cornell University and an M.F.A. from the University of Georgia. Currently she is Director of the Arts of Haiti Research Project, an Associate Editor of the Journal of Haitian Studies, and a member of the Board of the Haitian Studies Association. Author of a number of articles in scholarly journals concerning Haitian art, she has also contributed chapters to books concerning educational, environmental and arts issues in Haiti and the wider Caribbean. She held a Cornell University Civic Fellowship in 2003-2004 and was Visiting Researcher at the University of California-Santa Barbara in 2005-2006. Benson taught history of art at Cornell University and Wells College, and was Associate Dean at Wells College and State University of New York-Empire State College. She directed the program in Arts, Humanities and Communications at ESC-Center for Distance Learning and is Professor Emerita.
